Our Factory's "Test-Wear Corner"—Every Employee Is a Quality Inspector

We have an unwritten rule at our factory that I'm pretty proud of: every new batch of samples gets test-worn by employees first. It's been this way for years.

There's a big box in the corner of the workshop that's always full of sample socks. Anyone can grab a pair, put them on, wear them for a full day, and come back with honest feedback. Old Zheng started this tradition over a decade ago, and I've kept it going.

"Machine data tells you one thing," Old Zheng says. "But how it actually feels on your feet—that's completely different."

We get all kinds of feedback. Sometimes it's "this cuff is a bit too tight." Other times it's "the heel rubs—by the afternoon it really starts bothering me." And sometimes it's "I love this color—someone asked me where I got them!" But the best feedback is when someone says "I wore these all day and my feet didn't sweat at all. These are good."

Old Zheng writes every comment in his notebook, then adjusts the specs accordingly. Feedback never sits overnight—comments come in before the end of shift, and Old Zheng makes changes that same day. Test again the next day, adjust again, until everyone says "these are good."

Every pair that leaves our factory has been worn by a real person and approved.
